“Broadly, colonialism has displaced indigenous populations and interrupted sustainable land management practices around the world. Manipulation of industries and economies to extract wealth during the colonial era, as well as political interventions that continue long after colonial authorities leave, have disabled many nations' abilities to respond effectively to climate change.  The global south is left to contend with soil and air quality compromised by wealthy nations' emissions and waste, along with a disproportionate share of climate related flooding, drought and heatwaves.”
